against the grain therapy for those who want more

hey, you.

You, who are browsing this site because you probably don’t even need therapy, right? Your life is pretty good and you have a lot to be thankful for. There’s no crisis and maybe you wouldn’t even know what to talk about in therapy. You’re overwhelmed sometimes, or you worry that your relationships would seriously fall apart if not for your effort. Or you feel like you’ve lost access to parts of yourself trying to keep everyone else afloat. Maybe you know something about yourself that seems too indulgent or disrupting to do anything about. But hey, that’s just life, right?

There must be a part of you that is having trouble settling for this. There’s a voice that tells you there’s nothing wrong with wanting more, even when things are already beautiful, that you should check out the foundation even if the house isn’t falling apart. There’s a part of you that’s curious about how much richer life could feel if you felt abundant with your energy, rather than barely scraping by. You want to be seen but don’t know where to start.

What if therapy wasn’t just for explosions and crises and the last effort before you give up? What if you met a therapist who earned your trust and genuinely wanted to know you? You could explore these questions with no judgment, and get help staying on track. You could show up for you the way you show up for everyone else. You’d be empowered and held accountable at the same time.

I believe in therapy like that, and I hope you do, too.
