therapy
Stigma surrounding mental health has come a long way, but it still bears saying: prioritizing your wellbeing is a display of strength, not a response to a weakness. Therapy is an amazing response to acute stressors or particular events, but it’s also a great tool for reflecting on how to level up your already pretty-cool life.
I started therapy in 2021 as a birthday present to myself. I had wanted to start for years, but felt like I had to lose control or be in crisis to justify the time and cost. (Also, who would trust a therapist who was in therapy? Now I am suspicious of therapists who aren’t!) I learned that therapy doesn’t have to be a response or a prevention of anything. It can be a supplement to whatever you did or didn’t learn about regulating yourself, knowing what makes you tick, and how to be your own best protector.
Here, you don’t have to qualify for a diagnosis or wait for a crisis because I don’t believe that therapy should be pathologized. You don’t have to prove to anyone you feel stronger when you go to the gym, connected when you see friends, or fulfilled when you enjoy your hobbies. Why should we have to “earn” the option of mental health, relationship satisfaction, or healthy self-esteem?
Maybe you know exactly what you’re expecting from therapy, or maybe you’re keeping a promise to yourself or following a curiosity to connect with yourself. Whatever your motivation in beginning, I’d love to start together.
what to expect
The first session is all about getting to know each other and exploring what you’re hoping to gain from therapy. I’ll ask questions about what you shared in your intake paperwork and you will be encouraged to ask any questions you may have. We’ll talk a little bit of business, too, like what frequency you’re aiming for and what scheduling preferences you have.
If you’re easily made comfortable or just want to dive in, we can move more quickly. If you’ve had a bad experience with therapy in the past, or are new to the process, you might want to navigate more slowly and spend more time feeling safe. I’ll follow your pace so you don’t feel rushed; if there’s something you don’t want to talk about yet, don’t worry, we’ll go there when you’re ready.
Sessions will occur on a secure online platform. (AKA you totally get to be in your cozies at home on your couch, in your car on your lunch break, or wherever you’e most comfortable!) I’ll send you a link to your session, which will be the same link every time, so there’s no need to keep up with new links or download a new app!
how to start

Email or use the below forms to start the on-boarding process. Include your name, date of birth, and email address. I’ll email you an invitation to create a HIPAA-compliant client portal where you can find your intake paperwork. You will complete this paperwork prior to your first session. Once paperwork is completed, I will contact you directly to schedule your first appointment, or you can request an appointment on the portal.
Payment and Rates
I don’t work directly with insurance, but can provide you a copy of a superbill (fancy way of saying “receipt” for your sessions. You may opt to present these to your insurance company to pursue reimbursement. If insurance reimbursement is important to you, call the number on the back of your card and ask about your company’s policy on reimbursement for out of network providers.
The rate for a standard 50 minute session is $185 A full fee schedule is available upon request and will accompany your intake paperwork. Transparency is a huge part of informed consent.
While using insurance is an important factor for many people, the pros of being off insurance panels allow our therapists to offer you best care, flexible scheduling, and focus on what you need, not what insurance needs.
